Mastering

Analog or digital sources are both welcome at Gateway Mastering Studios.

If you’ve printed to both, and don’t have a preference yourself, please send both as a choice. Just keep backup copies as a safety. Protools files or broadcast wav files (.bwf) are the most common digital files we receive, but just call if you have a question about whether we can use your file format.

We generally deliver production masters as PMCD’s or DDP files. The DDP files can be shipped on a ROM or posted to your manufacturing plant. Wav files are available as an option for digital downloads of singles. Please call if you have a specific request for other formats.

Authoring

We prefer digital video sources whenever possible (with synced audio) but we’ll accept any source that you have. If we don’t have a specific format, we can almost always have it transferred. We also prefer Photoshop files for graphics, just leave the layers accessible. If you’re in doubt about what you’ve got, just give us a call. We’d be happy to go over your specific options.

Most DVD production masters are run on DLT (digital linear tape). You can include CSS and Macrovision encryption for video and CPPM for DVD audio discs. Check with your manufacturer to see if they accept DLT masters flagged for encryption. We also have the capability to send your DVD disc image electronically. Let us know what your time line is and we’ll put our best effort forward to make it happen
